To investigate whether elevation in serum cytomegalovirus IgG antibody levels precedes the development of breast cancer. This aim is linked to the outcomes below, because the results of this study will help to determine whether delayed exposure to cytomegalovirus (in adulthood rather than childhood) could increase the risk of breast cancer.
