CMRF Health Research Open Day 2007

There was an extremely good turn out for the Open Day held at the Christchurch Hospital, Christchurch School of Medicine and Health Research Foyer, 1 - 4pm
Many people took the opportunity to view and interact with displays and the chance to talk to Researchers about their Projects.
Three Research Tours ran every 30 minutes through the afternoon and the public were keen to take advantage of the Tours. Many visited the new 3T MRI Scanner at Hagley Radiology and also used for research projects at the Van der Veer Institute under direction of the CMRF Director of MRI, Dr Richard Watts.

Visit to Van der Veer Institute

CMRF Hosted a breakfast Visit/Tour of the Van der Veer Institute, Christchurch. The members of the Rotary Club of Christchurch Sunrise enjoyed an early morning breakfast at the Institute. The visit was sponsored by ABN Amro Craigs and a donation, $645.00 from the Rotary Club of Christchurch Sunrise was greatly received on behalf of the Van der Veer Institute which will be used towards building a new laboratory at the Institute.
Photo shows Professor Tim Anderson (Professor of Parkinson's Disease) who spoke to the interested group on the use of the 3T MRI Scanner located in the building in St Asaph Street. Professor Anderson explained the use of the scanner for his research project on Parkinson's disease.

Athol Mann Lecture 2007
Was held Monday 5th November, 2007
There was a wonderful response by the public who turned out in record numbers to listen to Professor Richard Faull speak.
An estimated 200 people attended the lecture and were entertained with an enlightening and refreshing look at the brain and brain disease. Professor Faull spoke on results from research, his team in Auckland had carried out.
