Welcome to Canterbury Medical
Research Foundation (CMRF)

The Canterbury Medical Research Foundation (CMRF) funds new research that will make a difference to people's lives - now and for future generations.

Founded in 1960, the CMRF has distributed more than $14 million to health research in the Canterbury area.

All the researchers we fund are based in Canterbury - and 100% of all donations are applied in full to that research. An example of this is the Van der Veer Institute for Parkinson's & Brain research which came about from a generous bequest.

At any one time, some 34 medical research projects in Canterbury are being funded by the Foundation, which focuses on new research. AIDS, Asthma, Cancer, Child Health, Diabetes, Eating Disorders, Emphysema, Eye Surgery, Heart Disease, Kidney Disease, Leukaemia, Liver Disease, Mental illness, Neurological Conditions, Osteoporosis, Strokes and Parkinson’s Disease are just a few of the areas where funding from CMRF has made a real impact.

You can specify a particular condition for your donation or bequest to be used for, or you can leave the decision up to the Foundation - its your choice.
